They call it the forgotten village.
Fifteen years ago, WASA ran water lines through Cumaca. Residents who applied for connections got them, and for about a month, water actually flowed through their taps. Then it stopped, and it never came back.
Since then, the community has raised the issue year after year, with little to show for it. Residents say the neglect doesn’t stop at water either. Bad roads and a lack of garbage collection have left Cumaca feeling overlooked in more ways than one.
